Working with Us

We are committed to a high level of environmental performance throughout our construction operations and are committed to Zero Environmental Harm. Our Environmental Management System (EMS) is certified to ISO 14001:2004, and provides a comprehensive management system and procedures for our employees and sub-contractors to work within to ensure environmental compliance. As part of our commitment to environmental compliance, we track and report on our carbon emissions (footprint) each financial year, striving to reduce our emission levels as far as practicably possible. In addition, our main office building has a 5 Star NABERS Energy Base Building rating and a 4.5 star NABERS Water rating.

Decmil has significant experience in environmentally-sensitive projects, which have included:

  • Green Star project certification achieved for the design and construction of an administration building for BHP Billiton Iron Ore on Finucane Island off Port Hedland. 89% (by weight) of construction waste was either reused or recycled on the project.
  • Performance of accommodation works for Chevron on Barrow Island – a Class A reserve. Works were completed with no environmental permit breaches.
  • An Australian Defence Force project in Queensland currently under construction has required close compliance with flora and fauna management given a number of vulnerable species in the area.
