Decmil Australia and the Goolarabooloo Jabirr Jabirr claim group are pleased to announce the establishment of a Strategic Alliance Agreement to deliver Joint Venture projects throughout the Kimberly Region.

The claim group have established Nyimarr Ltd, which is the commercial entity tasked with the creation of developing sustainable business for Kimberley communities.

The Strategic Alliance Agreement has been created to deliver multiple building and civil JV projects over a 5 year period, with the option of extending.

Nyimarr Decmil Strategic Alliance has developed a comprehensive 5 year plan that has identified target Government, Private and Resource project opportunities in the Kimberley Region.  This business plan sets both commercial and social Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) which will enable the Alliance to deliver outstanding construction project outcomes, while maximising Indigenous benefits including:  education, training, business development and employment.

Decmil Australia’s Managing Director Ray Sputore believes the creation of an Alliance agreement withTraditional Owners from within the Kimberley region will result in long term benefits for regional communities and the growth of the company.

“The signing of the Strategic Alliance Agreement is a result of two years close collaboration between the parties to develop a business model which supports the creation of employment options, training and long term aspirations of Traditional Owners,” Mr Sputore said.

“Nyimarr has staged plans to develop wholly owned Indigenous industries over the next 5 to 10 years. Housing, training facilities and related services will be areas we can work together and Decmil will provide the expertise to deliver.”

Nyimarr Director and Chairman Wayne Barker says the decision to form a Joint Venture with Decmil Australia was made after being satisfied that the cultures of the two organisations were aligned.

“The Traditional Owners have worked hard to establish this pathway for success and we wanted to develop a model that shows the creation of sustainable Indigenous economies is possible. Decmil has the project delivery track record but also understands the social aspects and cultural dimensions,” Mr Barker said.

Mr Sputore said. “I have had the pleasure of being involved with a number of Indigenous JV agreements and Alliances and I see enormous potential both for the ongoing growth of Decmil Australia and assisting the Traditional Owners of James Price Point establish a positive legacy for their people and the broader community.  We believe this agreement will contribute to generational change through establishing a long term strategy.”
