Ensuring our leadership group visibly and consistently demonstrate our SHIELD Charter principles.

Strong leadership drives a strong culture. A key objective of the SHIELD Program is to ensure the Decmil Leadership Group visibly and consistently demonstrate SHIELD Charter principles across all decision making and communications. 

All Decmil management are asked to develop their own Leadership Action Plan during the Induction and Orientation Program, or when promoted to this level, which are reviewed on a quarterly basis and forwarded to the SHIELD Leadership Team for monitoring, review and endorsement.

A tailored safety leadership program is facilitated for every member of the Decmil Leadership Group, which includes annual 360 degree reviews and targeted on-the-job safety coaching to facilitate ongoing improvement.

Bi-annual SHIELD Leadership Summits are held to review the effectiveness of the program with these workshops comprising participants from across the business including:

  • Executive;
  • Construction and Project Managers; and
  • Identified Decmil SHIELD ‘Natural Leaders’ (Elected Employee Safety Representatives).
