17/09/2009 - Decmil Australia sponsors Tambrey Primary School Courts Project

Contractors working on Woodside’s Pluto LNG Project have joined forces to give Tambrey Primary School a 20th birthday present – a brand new asphalt surface for the school’s multi-purpose court.
Woodside and its contractors are committed to providing a safe working environment and wanted to ensure that the children of Tambrey Primary School also had access to a safe area for fitness activities.
Tambrey Primary School Principal Bruce McCauley said over the years the surface was deteriorating and becoming potentially dangerous, the new asphalt surface will allow the children to continue with their daily fitness program with confidence.
‘The students, staff and parents of Tambrey Primary School were delighted to return to school this term to find that our multi-purpose court had a brand new asphalt surface and with the school celebrating its 20 year anniversary this is a great birthday present,” Mr McCauley said.
The school community is extremely appreciative of the generous support of the companies that banded together to make this project happen so quickly. With special thanks to Mr David Date from FAST JV for his enthusiasm in overseeing the project and liaising with each of the companies involved.”
DECMIL Australia was the first company to take on the challenge and offered their services to assist in the repair. Both DECMIL and DOWNER (EDI) worked together to resurface the two courts and provide a surface that was suitable for outdoor use. The effort included supply of labor, materials and machinery.
DECMIL Site Manager Goodie Felice said ‘We are committed to providing worthwhile contributions to the communities in which we live and work. We have been working in the area for over 30 years and we are proud to be able to offer assistance to the Tambrey School that will make a positive impact to the local community.”
Monodelphous, Worley Parsons and Woodside also contributed to the initiative to ensure the project was completed to a high standard. Alliance and DOWNER EDI have made it possible to complete further works including line marking for both tennis and basketball.
This will also be a terrific benefit to the whole Nickol community as the courts are open for public use after school hours.
Final completion will not only provide Tambrey Primary School with a modern and safe multi-purpose court but become an asset for the community.
